Well i went into My local Sound Control Today and saw a beautiful Spector Euro, I honestly didnt pay attention to the exact model, But i think it was the same as the one tht was recently reviewed on this site. Natural, PJ Config, about 900 quid.

Anyway, It sounded brilliant through an ampeg combo they had out. But the Pickups just got in my way, the curved back just put things at a wierd angle, the screws on the side of the pickups where too curved and my thumb slipped off them. All silly stuff which left me quite dissapointed!

But i know this bass works wonders for so many people.

Are there any basses you just simply cant understand how other people get so much out of?

Discusssss. :)

Most 80-90's Gibson basses leave me wondering why they bothered to cut the trees down in the first place. I'm not a huge fan of Gibson basses over all but that period seems a particularly pointless waste to me. Also my old Westone Spectrum 2 bass.

Apart from that I can see merit in most things I've tried.

I'll third it.

Every couple of years I get gas for a Rick, y'know, black/white thing. I toddle off to Electro and play one for 5 minutes then I realise why I never bought one. Shame they look so sweet.

On the Warwick thing though - hate the balance (Thumb), neck dive and weight but gotta love the sound - made me persevere.

+1 on that.

I've tried soooo many times to get on with the Thumb but it just doesn't happen. Not through neck dive just the combination of 26 fret neck, small body, short upper horn/bout means that the first position is just so far out that I don't get it!

This makes 4. I played a few years ago when I bought a GK combo, looked but felt all wrong to play.

Precisions as well, I tried one and just couldn't get comfortable, the positioning of the p'up was nasty and the tone was just as bad, they're far to large, heavy and I can respect the precision was the father of all basses but I just couldnt see what the fuss is.

That bass sound is awesome, it's exactly what I love about P-basses.

Good ol' PT but I guess man I'm just not a P-Bass man, I love jazzes though, but precisions just feel lifeless to me and sound it at times.

Errr.....
That's actually a vintage '66 Jazz bass - not a P-bass (not that I don't LOVE Precisions though!).

Looks and sounds like a Precision to me!
