mingsta
I've always had a bit of unresolved GAS for a jazz bass, but the slab like body looks odd with my pint sized frame. Who makes jazz basses with slightly smaller body size?
Lozz196
The Fender US Deluxe Jazz has a slightly smaller body I believe. Pretty good basses, incredibly versatile.
leroydiamond
Sadowsky have smaller bodies. Their NYC Range are pretty expensive (although their is a lovely used one in the classifieds here). They are also very light due to chambered bodies. The Metro range are probably better value, though chambered bodies are not an option, so they come in a little heavier.
Doctor J
Sadowsky and Bacchus make smaller J bodies, but they don't come cheap. The Bacchus 24 is smaller again, very light too.
Naetharu
I believe that the new version of the Jazz from Sandburg has a smaller body now (The California model). It also has a shorter neck yet full scale by mounting the bridge much closer to the end of the body.
Paul S
Fender Japan make both short scale (JB62SS) and medium scale (JB62M) jazz basses that have scaled down bodies. Also a medium scale non-export Aerodyne Jazz bass with either P/J or, a bit rarer still, J/J pickups - both have smaller bodies. I have the medium scale JJ Aerodyne Jazz and it is very nice indeed. None are common over here but can be imported from Japan 'reasonably' cheaply.
mingsta
Thanks guys, does anyone know if the Mike Lull TC4 basses are slightly undersized like the mv4 model, couldn't see any details on the website. Again, not a cheap option!

dannybuoy
Warmoth do a 'Dinky J' body too, I expect standard necks will fit.
Rumple
Warmoth do parts that include a smaller body if you fancied putting a bass together that way. BassBus
There's also Overwater. They build jazz basses in 4 or 5 different sizes.
M@23
New shaped Sandbergs have smaller bodies and headstocks, to compensate.
ead
Also Warwick Streamer CV is diminuitive compared to a J bass.
4 Strings
G&L JB bodies are smaller than the original. Arguably better made too and certainly cheaper.
Lo-E
You could look around for an old Guild Pilot. They had small, "Jazz Bass-inspired" bodies, p/j pickups and very comfortable necks. If you don't mind the slightly eighties aesthetics of them, they are extremely well made, underrated basses.
Treb
Lakland Daryl Jones.
+1 The reason I bought myself a DJ4: smaller body and the really comfy neck. Warmoth has the dinky j body that is compatible with its necks, the difference in size isn't very large though. There is a graphic on their site showing the difference. Sadowsky J's are smaller, the Will Lee appears really slender. Avoid the UV range, ultra vintage in appearance and size. Dunno about the relative size of the Hamer Cruise basses. Anyone? Edited December 19, 2015 by Treb
