A comment by Spectorema about Tull being winter music has got me thinking, are there really seasons for different bands or even genres ? I know the Beach Boys are summer, but thats just from when they get airplay. I'm thinking a bit deeper than that.

For example Lindisfarne always seemed wintery to me, same with Paul Simon. Doobies will always be early summer. Beatles are for Christmas. But is that just from my own experiences or does everyone feel the same?

There are definitely certain artists who I am much more likely to listen to in Summer than Winter. It's not an intentional thing. It's more that warm weather reminds me of certain artists.

Yes, I tend to listen to ska and pop-punk a lot more in the summer - first sunny day of the year usually sees me breaking out the Sublime and Offspring records.

Equally, whilst I listen to doom and black metal all year round, it makes a lot more sense in the winter.

I only tend to play Simple Mind's "Someone, Somewhere in Summertime" in the summer as it doesn't feel right listening to it in the winter.....but I am not sure this contributes much to the conversation!

For me Meat Loaf is summer, but that might be the California thing. Iron Maiden and New Model Army are winter, but that might be from sitting in my room listening to records over long winter nights as a youth.

I agree Tull are a winter band. I'd never thought of it, but even if you listen to them in Summer, they evoke a Wintery feeling. Solstice et all.
As for the Beatles, they shouldn't be listened to at any time of the year, regardless of mood!
