Not trolling. It is just my opinion. I am not saying that he wasn't a great player (he obviously is), just that his lines were often busier than they needed to be

Fair point. I wish I had his ability too, I prefer simple understated lines with some fills. That doesn't mean just sitting on the root or anything lines can be melodic without being overly busy

Good question. Stax for me, even as a kid.
I only got to like more Motown later, when I started playing bass at age of about 20

Depends what the mood is...if I want polish and sparkle its Motown if I want straight up grit its Stax..both are hugely important genres...

I just think Jamersons sense of musicality is way above that of most of us which kinda sounds like he's overplaying so personally I dont think he does...the guy is just extraordinarily musical.
