timmo Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 I would happily overplay if I could be as good as Jamerson Quote
ambient Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 Neither 😊. Although I respect both for their contribution to popular music. Quote

It is just my opinion. I am not saying that he wasn't a great player (he obviously is), just that his lines were often busier than they needed to be Quote

I wish I had his ability too, I prefer simple understated lines with some fills. That doesn't mean just sitting on the root or anything lines can be melodic without being overly busy Edited January 28, 2016 by rjs1909 Quote
Bassnut62 Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 Good question. Stax for me, even as a kid. I only got to like more Motown later, when I started playing bass at age of about 20 Quote
oldbass Posted February 6, 2016 Posted February 6, 2016 Depends what the mood is...if I want polish and sparkle its Motown if I want straight up grit its Stax..both are hugely important genres... Quote
