Norris
Yes, literally being an unwilling participant in a "jam" round the neighbours house. The main protagonist is a bespectacled chap of indeterminate age thrashing away on an acoustic guitar. I got to bed at 1:30 this morning and up again at 6:30 for work. Any suggestions how to make an exit before that guitar ends up in a place that's certain to taint the lacquer? Not quite the chilled Xmas eve I was hoping for
sprocketflup
Well of course theres always the "presents to wrap" excuse. failing that, try the Monty Python "Having a rather heavy period" excuse

Norris
Problem solved - he broke a string! And I definitely don't have a spare set or indeed several other guitars just three doors away. Yay! Christmas is looking up!
seashell
I feel your pain, having suffered a similar situation a couple of Xmas's ago. Host of the party had asked me to bring my bass as he'd also invited a singer and guitai and he thought it would be nice if we could all have a little sing song. Frankly, I might as well not have been there. Singer and guitarist just wanted to do their own mournful songs all night. You could probably go to bed right now and your speccy friend wouldn't even notice.
