sbrag Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 (edited) Really sad news but amazing he made it to 70. Big regret I never got to see Motorhead live for one reason or another but I did get to meet him in the early 90s. The man has left a massive legacy. I love this clip: https://youtu.be/91QIMu9CVrI Edited December 29, 2015 by sbrag Quote

Hobbayne Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 Bugger. He only had his birthday on Christmas eve. Quote
4-string-thing Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 Never much of an influence on me (well, not in a bass playing sense anyway ) but a great bloke who you could genuinely call a "rockstar" Things won't be the same without him..... Quote
ezbass Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 A true legend. We will not his see his like again, which is sad Man alive, it has a been a year of attrition in the bass community. Quote
Conan Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 The best at what he did, and not many do it Lemmy's way... An utter legend and rock god. I'm not sure he'll be resting, but I hope he's at peace. Goodbye Lemmy - missed already and will be for a very long time. Quote
KiOgon Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 Sad - first thing I heard when I turned the radio on just now Another legend gone - there won't be another Lemmy! Quote
lowdowner Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 Although it's never been my kind of music the man was an icon, and whenever I heard him speak on radio or TV my admiration for him grew. A rare gem of an authentic person in a world of grey mediocrity - he'll be missed. Can't help but thinking that his end must have been quick and somehow suited him - even in death he wasn't a shrinking wallflower. The world will be just a little bit blander and boring without him. Saw Motorhead only the once at Guildford about 15 years ago and they were absolutely fantastic! There's something very iconic about Rickenbackers anyway, but even more so when Lemmy played his. If/when they come to make the film of his life, they'll be hard pushed to find an actor who can do him justice.. RIP Lemmy. Quote
norvegicusbass Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 Woke up to my friend's text telling me this. Really sad. My thoughts are with his close friends and family. I was a fan. Quote
essexbasscat Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 A larger than life character indeed, no - one can fill his shoes. I was discussing the other day that I bought Silver Machine when it came out in the '70's. What a record for the time The world is a poorer place for his passing Quote
Green Alsatian Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 RIP Lemmy. The afterlife has just got a lot louder! The first time I saw Motorhead was on The Young Ones episode 'Bambi' in 1984, performing Ace of Spades and loved it! Saw them live (finally!) in 1998 and my ears were ringing for two days afterwards. This daft gag he told in Lemmy: The Movie always cracked me up. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r24k22lBfNo Quote
chris_b Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 Bad news. A bit like Keith Richards, I had almost got to the point of thinking he was immortal. Sadly not. Quote
Lozz196 Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 Rotten news, but not unexpected. I`ve a feeling Ace Of Spades might make it`s way into band practice tonight in his honour. Quote
Pinball Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 a great quote from him referring to Motorhead: "Very basic music - loud, fast, city, raucous, arrogant, paranoid, speed-freak rock n roll. It will be so loud that if we move in next door to you, your lawn will die". Quote
HazBeen Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 RIP Lemmy, you will not be forgotten. Quote
paul_5 Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 Sad news, but not unexpected. RIP Lemmy. Quote
ahpook Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 The man was 100% rock and roll. He's gonna be missed. Quote
odysseus Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 RIP big fella. Thanks for the music. Quote
paulbass Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 A Rock'nRoll Legend. RIP Lemmy one of a kind. Quote
DarkHeart Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 R.I.P to one of my true music heroes, the world will be a quieter place now. Quote
Lynottfan Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 We lost a warrior, the world of bass just got a whole lot quieter and bit more tame sadly, ride on brother, RIP LEMMY. Quote
