Pbassred Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 I ordered something which is coming from Germany via DHL paket. I don't think that DHL actually deliver those themselves. Does it go through Parcelfarce or the regular postoffice parcels? I was hoping that I might get it tomorrow (dec 30) but (dec 31) is looking more likely. If it all goes wrong, and its PF, they don't deliver on Saturdays and Monday is a work day - so I'm not home. I hate G.A.S. Quote
backwater Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 I had a parcel from Thomann last year that was sent DHL paket and it arrived via parcelforce. Andy Quote
Hobbayne Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 I ordered a gigbag from Thomann but Parcelfarce went and lost it. Quote
EssentialTension Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 Parcelforce - and I never had a problem. Quote
Grangur Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015
Parcelforce - and I never had a problem.
Me too, a few times. At least if you're our it will be easier for collection if it's at your local post office. Quote
Paul S Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 A couple of times I have bought basses from Japan that were sent via DHL and it was a DHL van that delivered them. In one case I missed the delivery and the driver rang later in the day to see about re-delivering in the afternoon. Add to that 2 days door to door from Tokyo and I was very impressed. Quote
Fisheth Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 Parcelforce from Thomann, Never had a problem with them myself. Quote
RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 In my job, I send/ receive dhl daily . They don't use a middleman / woman Quote
Huge Hands Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 I have ordered quite a few things from Thomann. Always seems to be DHL through Germany, then Parcelforce at the UK end. If you create an account with Thomann and follow their tracker - I always find the bit that determines the length of time you wait is the "at Import Centre" part or whatever it is - I assume Customs in the UK. Last year I ordered stuff around Christmas and both Thoman's pickers and the Import Centre were slow. I don't really know how Parcelforce works, but I find that un-delivered packages arranged through them in the UK go back to their main depot which is only open 8-5. However the Thoman stuff always ends up getting dropped at my local Post Office which is actually a newsagents. It's only round the corner and open at 6am - great for picking stuff up before work! Pbassred Posted January 6, 2016 Author Posted January 6, 2016 I think that DHL paket must be a different service to DHL. Picked up on the Tuesday. New years day (Friday) was a holiday. It didn't move from Koln until Monday and its been stuck at "The shipment has arrived in the destination country" for 2 days. It hasn't even got to Parcelforce yet. So the lesson is "don't rely on DHL anytime around Xmas". Its "Wednesday now. I might get it by Friday. Quote
BigRedX Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 AFAICS DHL in Germany do the same job for the German post office as ParcelForce does here. Therefore your package will be delivered by ParcelForce. Quote
