Twincam Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 Been experimenting with my dha valve overdrive noticed me playing a lot of higher notes with more extreme distortion. Switched to my little bronco bass and with its thinner strings and strat pu, it actually sounds dare I say guitar like. With bright switches engaged and some creative eq. And I liked it so much getting a guitar crossed my mind. In the past I've sort of shunned that sort of playing for wanna be guitarists. I'm not getting a guitar but it did remind me how fun twiddly bits can be on bass. Quote
oldslapper Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 May I suggest trying a squier bass vi? I think you'd find it a lot of fun. I love mine. Quote

ahpook Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 Conversely, get a guitar. Why not ? Knowing another instrument is always cool and it'll cross-pollinate with your bass playing. Or summit. Quote
BottomE Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 Yeah, get a guitar. Got a little Strat recently for recording projects and having fun with it. As others have said it has musical benefits (also got a midi keyboard too). It all helps Quote
oldslapper Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 Yup, other instruments definitely open up your musical horizons. or.......Bass vi...... ;-) Quote
elephantgrey Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 Or, get an ovtave up pedal, and a blackstar valve OD. Then, mix those two with the DHA. Quote
RhysP Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 "Twiddly bits" sound infinitely better on guitar than on bass, just buy a guitar. After all, it is a far superior instrument to bass...... Quote
leschirons Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 Sounds like you could be heading down "baritone avenue" Quote
BigRedX Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 Get a guitar. If you want something cheap to start you off have a look at at a Harley Benton Deko Strat, around £20 plus shipping when they come up but you need to be quick. If you can't be bothered to wait the full price is just over £50. Quote
Twincam Posted December 30, 2015 Author Posted December 30, 2015 Think I will pass on getting a guitar for now at least as I want to concentrate on bass. That and I've actually did a bit of guitar playing in the past and didn't get attached. Quote
