sharkboy Posted March 24, 2016 Share Posted March 24, 2016 Personally, I like a bit of dirt on my sound when playing some classic rock, but certainly not all the time. Something that springs to mind though - you're playing through an amp that has a built-in filter specifically created to emulate some of the warmth that comes from vintage set-ups (albeit without the distortion), so why not just play around with this instead? Dan Dare Posted March 24, 2016 Share Posted March 24, 2016 (edited) The point of overdrive is that it's great when it's a contrast -. dirty guitar sound versus clean bass/keyboard sound, for example. If everyone uses it, though, the whole thing just sounds a mess (imho, of course). And yes, blokes who approach you in the toilets are bound to be up to no good...
