I know there have been places in the past to donate old strings but as far as I can find out, they no longer accept donations?

I've got a good few sets just lying around somewhere but have held off throwing them away for some reason.

So what do you do with them?

Edit : Apologies to the mods if this has already been covered in another thread. I couldn't find one when I had a search

The last old set are kept in the accessories bag. I have never broken a string but I still carry a spare set, just in case.

I've tried to recycle old strings but the council won't take them, so I throw them in the metal skip at the dump.

If they are still reasonably playable I give em away free to anyone who sends me a stamped addressed envelope. New strings are expensive, and many folk cant afford them if they are unemployed etc, they have better things to spend their money on.

I put mine in the recycling, although I'm sure I read that they're very hard to recycle back to component materials.

I keep a spare set or so, and give any away if anyone asks.

I got shot of a lot of mine through the Recycling forum:

There's plenty of people on here who are happy to take a set of deadened rounds of you!

Good to know - I'll do this from now on.
