garry warrington
On an impulse i recently took a chance on ebay with an Ibanez blazer bass, I new these were decent for the money, I did notice on the pics it had a jazz pickup aswell as a stock precision pickup. I hoped that it was just a rare model, now i have received the bass ,it turns out the jazz pickup has been added and its not the greatest of jobs. The additions are also a pickup selector(2 position) and a volume knob ? which in a way seems to put the pickups out of phase along with a tone. The Jazz pickup when selected is not as loud as the p pickup. You can find a sweet spot which nails a decent precision tone, but this wiring is a complete mess. not sure how much a luthier will charge to re work the wiring , i also hope i will not loose that sweet spot! Any thoughts
3below
How many holes do you have in the pickguard now? You could go VVTT or VT VT with dual concentric pots. You could keep existing wiring and do a neat job. Kiogon on this very forum could make you a custom wiring loom. Plenty of wiring diagrams about on Google. Enjoy the bass
RhysP
The J pickup is often quieter than the P pickup on PJ type basses.
Doctor J
With any PJ setup, I find I always have to have the bridge J a lot closer to the strings than the P. Set the height according to the output, not with your eyes. Were it me, I'd go with a volume-blend-tone setup, I prefer that to VVT or Volume-Tone and a three-way switch. garry warrington
can you get these pre wired?
Truckstop
First try adjusting the height of the J pup so that the output matches that of the neck pups, if output gets too high, then you could try lowering the height of the neck pups to compensate and get them properly balanced. As someone else said, drop kiOgon a line and he'll make a wiring loom for whatever you want. Whether you want V/V/T or Blend/T/V at a very reasonable price. He can do solder less looms too so you it couldn't be easier to drop it into the cavity. If you're not happy with it, drop me a line and I'll see if I've got enough spare cash to buy it off you. I love Blazers I do
