Tecamp - no more?

I did a Google search on "Richard Bona Thomas Eich" and there was an article in German on www.gearnews.de that, when translated by Google translate, made interesting reading - Thomas Eich's version of events between himself and Richard Bona (to be found at the end, in an update from 23/12/15). You can find it directly on www.gearnews.de with a little hunting.

The thing with these small esoteric bass amplification brands is that they are much more about the people who design and and create them then they are about the brand name.

So when a big company comes along and buys up one of them, all they seem to end up with is some no longer cutter edge designs, and as soon as the old owners non-compete period expires, they are back with newer and better products under a new name. Fender and Genz Benz being a case in point.

Cue thread of the future:

Barefaced bust up- will only be making 410s out of marine ply from that point on!

Thomas Eich joins the long list of founders and visionaries who moved on. Some not as willingly as others:

Steve Rabe, David Nordschow, Jeff Genzler, Start Spector, Michael Tobias, Hugh McFarland, Leo Fender. There must be many more.

All top names who had to leave their "baby" behind.

I think Eich Amps have taken over Tecamp USA's Facebook page, possibly accidentally.

which is where you finish up if you search for "Eich amplification" on Farcebook and then select Eich-Amps.

  • 1 month later...

Looks like TecAmp gear is now gone from Europe can't find any PUMA's for sale anywhere.

EICH looks great but understandably seem to be a bit higher in price. Dread to think what the TecAmp US stuff will cost by it gets here.

who puts anything on top of the amps?

If you had to clean J2O out of your amp then you would understand. Luckily no long term damage was done on that occasion, despite the oh so helpful attentions of my band mates.
