kusee pee Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 Just discovered his work over the Xmas break and wondered if anyone else is into his stuff? Gonna start exploring some Brand X. Some interesting techniques he uses in this series: http://youtu.be/cgUMguYktPE Quote

My favourite albums by them are probably Product and Unorthodox Behaviour, but it's all going to be an eye-opener, frankly. Enjoy! Quote
RhysP Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 You need to check out his solo album "Cape Catastrophe" too. Quote
kusee pee Posted January 3, 2016 Author Posted January 3, 2016 That all sounds exciting. I discovered him playing on the excellent album by Melon. http://youtu.be/ihOzRcQU85M Quote
goingdownslow Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 Used to watch him weekly performing with The Liverpool Scene in O'Connors Tavern, Liverpool http://youtu.be/1gmpQC2BNfg Quote
toneknob Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 Here's another PJ gem from Brian Eno's "Another Green World" (another Brand X bloke Phil Collins on drums) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KXDrTZMVINo Quote
TrevorR Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 Horrible transfer but this track is a cracker! http://youtu.be/XauOTo-BKSY Quote

Phil Collins is a pretty amazing drummer too
Collins is a superb drummer, one of the best. Unfortunately he'll be remembered by the majority for his largely mediocre solo records. Quote
Davo-London Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 LOL. Phil Collins was awesome. So was John Goodsall and Robin Lumley etc. I much prefer early days Percy Jones on his wall. I don't care for his tone on the example added by low registerhead. Davo Quote

RichF Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 awesome - as well as Another Green World, there is some incredible work by Percy on Eno's Before and After Science Quote
kusee pee Posted January 7, 2016 Author Posted January 7, 2016 Before And After Science was a great album. Quote

ambient Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 There's a really nice album by Richard Barbieri from a few years ago that has Percy Jones, some really nice playing. Quote

I first heard Percy Jones on this in 1977, bought the album and still have it. I must dig it out for a listen. Quote
White Cloud Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 A big fan here, have been since the early 80's when i stumbled across Masques & Livestock. Percy is an Incredibly talented and innovative unique voice on the bass. Quote
ebenezer Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 apparently Jaco listed Percy Jones as one of his fave players....praise indeed!! Quote
philw Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 Funny, I've been reminiscing with old Brand X stuff on Spotify all day. Percy was one of the reasons I started playing bass and one of the reasons I bought a fretless Wal as soon as I possibly could. I still reckon PJ's the best out there. Quote

Moroccan Roll ( what an album title ) .... and Masques Have some more PJ on me Edited January 24, 2016 by fleabag Quote

Martin E Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 I agree with everyone, he's a fantastic and unique player. But, dare I say it, that opening track on the OP's video has me wincing a bit , sorry. Quote
