AndyTravis Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 https://www.facebook.com/ibanezuk/posts/10153835712843147 Interesting- much better looking than the BTB Singlecut they did last year. Quote
Cameronj279 Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 I'm not big on singlecuts but that's pretty nice looking. Purpleheart fretboard too... Quote
AndyTravis Posted January 3, 2016 Author Posted January 3, 2016 Wondering if I am just lusting. Do I need it? Do I even get on with Ibanez basses? Quote
alittlebitrobot Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 That's more like it! I usually like singlecuts, but the BTB looked ugly to me. This is nice. Quote
White Cloud Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 I get on very nicely with Ibanez SR's and this looks fantastic. Well done Ibanez - I expect this to arrive at an extremely reasonable price tag Quote
AndyTravis Posted January 3, 2016 Author Posted January 3, 2016 How much was the fan fret? £799? Quote
BassBus Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016
That's more like it! It is tempting though. Quote
skej21 Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 (edited) Got to be said, it's nice that they listened to their customers! People have been asking for this for AGES! Looks smart but the string spacing is too wide for my liking... Edited January 3, 2016 by skej21 Quote
ezbass Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 Ooh, that works for me. I do not need/want one, I do not need/want one, I do not need/want one. Quote
Paulhauser Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 I hope there won't be a six string version as I'll have to have one. Never been big fan of Ibanez except for their six string SR basses, especially the Prestige's. Those fit me like no other sixers did/do. Quote
Kev Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 Excellent! I love how SC basses are becoming more and more common, great to see a mass produced one of this style enter the market at what Im sure will be a brilliant price Quote
Bassassin Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 No. The original SR is an elegant & lightweight design and all this does is add 2lbs of unnecessary wood, and make it pig-ugly. Horrid. Jon. Quote
I feel the same but I think that's a combination of the 16.5mm narrow string spacing and the neck profile. This Singlecut model (for some reason!) has gone away from the spec and has 18mm string spacing... That alone would put me off! Love the look of it but owning an SR605 and playing the BTB 6 string models regularly (17mm spacing on 6 strings), I wouldn't want anything more than 17mm. Shame as I REALLY like the look of it!! I love the fact that modern shapes and single cut basses are becoming more common. I love how much they seem to divide opinion too :-) Quote

Musashimonkey Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 Very nice, aesthetically works for me! Quote
Well, let's wait and see. AFAIR they always did the usual 16.5 mm on 6 string SR's, one exception being the Adam Nitti sig that comes to my mind. The last thing I need is another Ibby sixer but life is too short for contamplating how many basses I REALLY need. Quote

I have a massive soft spot for Ibby SRs, had a fretted & fretless pair of SR800s in the early 90s, sold them a few years back & regretted it. Recently got a fixer-upper SR500 which I gave a Danish oil refin over Xmas - it's currently hanging by my desk drying, & I keep being struck by what a good looking bass it is every time it catches my eye... and then I see this thing... AndyTravis Posted January 3, 2016 Author Posted January 3, 2016 If it's 18mm and they don't come through heavy, I'm tempted. I know poplar burl can vary widely in appearance though... Quote

I like the look of this SC but there's no temptation there for me. .....which is lucky. Quote
M@23 Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 (edited) That's kinda cool. I might be warming to singlecuts... Edited January 3, 2016 by M@23 Quote
Painy Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 That's probably the first single cut I've seen that I've really liked the look of. Fortunately for my bank balance I think I'd feel just a bit too silly playing The Boys Are Back In Town on it on a Saturday night gig down at the Whippet Inn. Quote
