replacement jack socket for musicman sabre ?

anyone have any idea where i can get one of the square, black jack sockets for and musicman from ?

the one on my sabre has finally given up the ghost

I'm not familiar with that socket. Can you post any pictures ? It maybe a standard component but witout seeing what it looks like I don't know.

Aye, no worries, to me it looks like the same jack socket as the one on my SUB bass which should be the same as the one on the current ray, they haven't changed the circuit board in years so you should be able to get a correct replacement.

To me that looks like a standard switched TRS jack socket. It looks like the ones on the switchcraft site : [url="http://www.switchcraft.com/products/jack-87.html"]Switchcraft[/url]

Should be able to get one from a guitar tech or cpc/farnell/RS components.

those are 5-tag tho aren't they ? i guess it would be fairly easy to work out the wiring.


i wonder if i could use a normal stereo socket ? i've a few of them lying around.

well, i managed to rehabilitate the old one...a good session with switch cleaner and some mild abrasive and it's back wrking :@)

no it's not....gone again. i managed to get hold of a similar 5-tag socket, but it doesn't seem that it'll work


i'm wondering about rewiring the sabre...at the mo the battery's switched out of the circuit by breaking the +ve connection. i'll have a ponder at the schematic and double check how easy it would be to rewire it to break the -ve...
