Had to leave early as I'm off to see fellow BC'er Bobby K play in Derby tonight. I was absolutely blown away by the quality of Jabba the Gut's 'homemade' basses. Attention to detail was second to none. Fell in love with Bassbiscuit's 1970 Precision and also came away with the feeling that I need an Epiphone Jack Casady bass in my life. A shame that there wasn't a few more there but very enjoyable nonetheless.

No pics I'm afraid (I'm sure some will be arriving soon) but thoroughly enjoyable do...

Special thanks to Simon for organising, Andrew (D'Addario) for the great support, advice and raffle prizes and, of course, Jo (Mrs Chris S) for the divine and sublime orange and lemon drizzle cakes.

Good to catch up. Too many impressive things to remember but things that come to mind include: the sheer perfection of Jabba's (Jez) builds - aspirational; a beautiful Wal ; Norris' EUB and wonderfully restored Aria; Button's buttons and effects; a lovely Vigier; some splendid D'Addario strings; Len_Derby's (Neil) acoustic bass.

Here's to the next one :D

Indeed - just to echo what everyone else has said really. Cool to catch up and do some talking and playing with everyone. Thanks to Si600 for running the show.

Frankly baffled how Andy the D'Addario man's Aguilar rig can sound so good and weigh about as much as a couple of empty suitcases.

Same with those cool TC Electonic 1x12 cabs. I need to go shopping...

Very taken with that black Status necked jazz bass too - I don't know the name of the chap it belongs to, but it was divine.

And managed to pick up some D'Addario strings and bits in the raffle too, which is a bonus!

Enjoy the rest of the weekend folks.

Being new to anything to do with anything guitar shaped, yesterday was a good day and I'd recommend similar events to anyone thinking about going to one. It's good to meet real people and chat to them, to be made to feel utterly inadequate by the makers :) I'm seriously impressed by the stuff you guys make and it has resurrected thoughts about what I could do when I retire in a year or two's time...

It's also a good chance to see various bits of kit... I really liked that rig in the corner with the two TC 1x12 (I'm guessing RS112?) plus the Markbass head (? I think)...

Now all I need to do is find some events a bit nearer to home such as Shrewsbury/Chester/Liverpool or Birmingham...

Afternoon All.

Just to echo the above - thanks to Si600 for organising the event, shame there weren't as many there as there might have been.

It was, as always, good to catch up with you and see some great kit.

Thanks also to Andy from D'Addario for getting me looking at roundwound strings again, and of course for the raffle prize (the t-shirt of which is being worn as I [s]speak [/s]type).

Thanks also to the good lady wife for the provision of cake, a large amount of which we sat and stuffed into our faces last night in a most undignified manner.

Hope to see you all again soon.

Addendum!

Just so I'm not the only one with a less-than-four-string bass:

Also for those with small pedalboards or just starting out, these two may help:

Thanks Si600 for organising this. Was great to meet up again and try out some great gear.

Always good to catch up with Andy and discuss self builds. Nice to catch up with everyone else and try out various basses and amps; particularly liked the Vigier bass - very nice, and really pleasantly surprised with the sound and low weight of Norris's Rumble 500.

Hope to meet up with everyone and more next year.

Cheers again

Jez
