Twincam Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 (edited) This is on a bass I'm selling. I thought it was from where it was on the wall hanger for a while she I bought it. So if its a repair I will need to revise my ad. No crack on the front or the back the mark fade away it seems. I cant decide if there was a repair on the side or not. It must of been done years ago. Seems perfectly fine anyhow. HowieBass Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 Looks like a surface mark probably from the hanger, nothing to worry about with regard to the integrity of the neck/headstock from what I can see. Quote
AndyTravis Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 Headstock splits on fenders usually eminate from tuner holes. And it looks too smooth even for a great repair. It could be a hanger mark - I know 'string swing' hangers can do this. Or, another possible explanation is a feint mineral streak - seen a lot on les Paul tops, and the neck is quite figured maple... They would usually radiate from the screw holes or rarely along a grain like the ones in your first photograph. I go with the HowieBass and AndyTravis on this. Is just marks from a hanger. [/quote] Fenders finest flats, find they give a good range of tone not too flat/thumpy so to me they cover a lot of ground. 2001 p bass special deluxe, a really nice bass now belonging to Andy. Quote
