SOLD! *Noel Redding CIJ Signature 97 Fender Jazz Bass - Price Drop 850
£995

Hi all,

For sale is my beautiful '97 CIJ Noel Redding signature Fender Jazz bass. I bought this 2 years ago from David at Cotswold Bass Guitars (lovely guy) and it is is awesome condition. A few tiny dings here and there - but it certainly doesn't look almost 20 years old.

It's all-original - made in Japan in 97 and is a re-creation of Noel Redding's 1965 Jazz bass. Sunburst body, with tort pickbuard and rosewood neck. With a strap button on the top horn, reverse tuners and '60's pickup positioning, it really looks, and plays the part.

Fender made a limited run of 1,000 of these, mine is number 547 (stamped on the back of the headstock). Most of the basses were signed by Noel on the lower horn - with silver pen. Most of these signatures are now faded however. I replaced the pickguard and preserved the original with some plastic, so no worries about it getting worse.

The 34 inch scale maple neck features a 7.25 inch radius maple fingerboard with 20 vintage frets. Dual vintage style pickups deliver classic tone. Weight is around 8.8lbs or 4kg.

Originally came with a soft case (included) - but I will also include a non-period hard (functional) case - and the obligatory Fender strap.

Happy to post UK or abroad, at buyer's expense.

Not really interested in trades... I just put a deposit on a new Fodera and need to raise funds!

Apparently he loved it too, after selling the original Jazz (a 65 I think). There's a funny story about his being asked to sign his name a few times, and then they brought out 1,000 scratch plates!

It's all true. He thought we was signing 'a few' and it ended up taking almost 4 hours! Unfortunately the pen they gave him was rubbish so most of the ink is now faded... :-( Doesn't stop the bass being awesome though!

Hey man - you can see the original pickguard in this pic

The sig is on the lower horn but you really have to hold it in the right light to see it!

The pickguard that is on the bass is an OEM replacement.

Some interest in this beauty but no sale yet... only 1,000 of these were made and there won't be many in as good condition as this. Make a huge sound and feels great to play. Make me an offer! :-)

hi i was interested in this bass but i put myself a limit of 1000 €. Also in your photos i don't see the signed pickguard.

Like all of them, my Noel Redding JB has the signature faded as well. You can see only a trace of the signature in a certain angle against the light. I think it is almost imposible to make a photo of it. A great bass.

Got a chance to play this bass again last night and it reminded me what is so great about it.

Made in 1997 to 1965 spec; pickups in the right place give it a real punch. Huge sound, great looks. Reverse tuners give it a cool vibe and the jazz neck is a dream. Balances well and is in great condition. Sunburst finish with Rosewood is the perfect combination if you ask me...

That's odd! I must have my pictures screwed up. I'll fix it. Mine is 547. I used some previous photos from the guy I bought it from and never noticed that!

I was ready to buy this at the new price, I'm now a little unsure because the pics on the ebay ad' seem to be a mix of the pics on here and ebay? I need a set of pics for the one you\re selling so there is no ambiguity..

cheers.

Sorry for the misunderstanding. My bass is number 547 and is the one pictured on the carpet. The pictures of the bass on the sheet were from the guy I bought it from previously. I always assumed this was the same bass (it was advertised on his website) - but it is now clear that it is a different NR sig. The ebay ad now only contains pictures of my bass. PM me if you would like more info.

There were some pictures of NR sig 878 in my original ad (this bass also had a tugbar) - I have removed those.

You can buy it also from here if you want. :-)
