ambient Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 One of my favourite musicians. http://backinbrooklynfeaturingjohnpatitucci.vhx.tv Quote
jimbobothy Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 ... got the album a while back, a mixed bag of stuff but it's all good Quote
visog Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 Little bit of discussion about John's semi-acoustic (and Thundercat's) here a little while ago... http://basschat.co.uk/topic/258272-semi-acoustic-sixes/page__p__2752507__hl__thundercat__fromsearch__1#entry2752507 Quote
ezbass Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 The solid, Yammy fiver looks interesting too. Quote
BassBus Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 Yeh, great musician and he even inspired Janek Gwizdala to raise the playing action on his bass. Quote
Bilbo Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 I've got a.ot of time for JP. I remember when we all heard 'Got A Match' for the first time and all ran out and bought the Electrik Band LP (pre-CD days). Everyone was trying to play it and everyone was failing!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YOm34SVz2K8 Quote

Scott Henderson who appears on it dis's it terribly saying it was Chick's show band phase where he wanted to reach the masses, but I love all the tunes and JP shines as you say. The extra track that did come on the CD when we finally got round to getting it was a real stinker though! (Naff ballad - not CIty Gates, the other one) Edited January 9, 2016 by visog Quote
chardbass Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 Scott H plays like an absolute MF on the Elektric Band live in Barcelona gig which my mate had on VHS back in the day. He and Carlos Rios were so much more to my taste than Frank Gambale (who was no slouch though!) I bought Light Years first which was a little more mainstream so when I got the 1st album on vinyl my head blew off! Quote
visog Posted January 20, 2019 Posted January 20, 2019 Looks like he has another new bass... Guessing it's a Yamaha from the headstock... Kinda has a Ibby look about the body shape. Quote
Guest Posted January 20, 2019 Posted January 20, 2019 Phenomenal player on both electric and upright but I must say I much preferred his electric tone with a Ken Smith in the early days. To me the Yamaha tone is too thin and stringy. Quote
SpondonBassed Posted January 20, 2019 Posted January 20, 2019 I want to see him do the spider on a sixer! Just saying because that little exercise used to tie me in knots on my five. I can't imagine doing it on a sixer. Quote
visog Posted January 20, 2019 Posted January 20, 2019 I'm hoping it's a pre-production model. His big semi (fnarrr) which started this thread never made it to production I don't think. Hope this one will... Quote
