Annoying Twit Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 Starting bid £200, new price £168. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Deluxe-12-String-Guitar-Sunburst-Harley-Benton-RB-612CS-Classic-Series-electric-/121858140366?hash=item1c5f4fa8ce:g:-W4AAOSwYIhWjRzk I sent a message asking if there was anything included in the auction to justify the start bid being more than the new price. I received a semi-coherent rude email back. The seller told me not to ask 'stupid questions'. Quote
discreet Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 (edited) Ha! I suppose we could swamp the seller with the same question. But that would be childish, wouldn't it? It's not contrary to eBay's rules, though. You can set whatever start price you like. Whether anyone will be mad enough to pay it is entirely another matter, of course. crez5150 Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 It does seem to happen quite a lot.... I was looking at Apple TV units on there recently. 2nd hand ones selling for more than new price, very strange Quote
Happy Jack Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 How do you think he got to be a bigfatcat in the first place? Quote
warwickhunt Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 I've highlighted the cost of a new one. Response was that you'd need to pay for delivery and I could make an offer... a buyer would need to pay postage for his (unless collecting) and an offer of £50 might insult! Quote
Annoying Twit Posted January 9, 2016 Author Posted January 9, 2016 (edited) In all honesty, I have seen Harley Bentons go for more than new price. Particularly when the logo is removed or not present in the listing. I just thought it was funny that the seller reacted quite rudely Edited January 9, 2016 by Annoying Twit Quote
