Gutted, always been aware of him but never really got into him since joining a Bowie covers band back in August when I went back and really started appreciating quite how much he'd accomplished over the years. We did a gig on Saturday as a celebration of his birthday and new album and everyone in the band is a little stunned about his passing.
Listened to Blackstar on the way to work this morning and the lyrics seemed very poignant, it's very much a farewell to this world and I got a little choked up during Lazarus. Struggling to think of anyone that comes close to him. Time for a Bowie binge.

I saw the OP's first post as he posted , and genuinely thought that he'd fallen for one of those internet rumours . nothing on BBC and no one replied .

Not a massive fan , but a fan nonetheless .

Such a huge huge loss - really shocked today (pretty much all day) .

I was so sad to hear this. Genius is such an overused word but David Bowie was a musical genius in every sense of the word. I've never heard a bad word said about him as a person either.

The world is a sadder place without him.

I was totally shocked when I heard this on the news yesterday morning. An absolute giant in music, an artist in the truest sense of the word.

I've never really listened to much of his material to be honest, I've got a best of and Ziggy but you can't deny his impact. A one off.

His last album still excited people and was news in the mainstream media, that speaks of how big he was to me.

Reports are that Bowie had started a new album, and had five tracks in varied stages of completion. These tracks may be released in the future, possibly as an enhanced version of Blackstar.

They already do. It's not bad, but I prefer normal Hobgoblin. It would be nice if they did a run with that label though.

Coming home from a NYE bash when Scary Monsters came around. Absorbing the lyrics I realised how he totally nailed the late '70's/early '80's mood on that album.
