geoham Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 I've recently joined a 90's indie cover band, and the above is on the setlist. I thought I'd figured out the bass part, quite simple roots mostly. However, YouTube evidence would prove me wrong! For the main riff, played at the intro and chorus it looks like Hook is playing what I thought was a guitar part, up at the dusty end of the fretboard. On the record there is definitely a low root note there too though. So - if any of you guys cover this, what do you play exactly? Our lineup is 2 guitars, bass and drums - no keyboard. ahpook Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 With no keys I'd say the best arrangement would have you on the low notes and one of the guitarists playing Peter Hook's parts. Quote

Bassjon Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 I used to do it many years ago. I played all the high passages and the guitarist covered the low end with simple chords and it sounded pretty good. Quote
