bassace
Well, it's not ever his greatest but I remember waking up on a morning of '66 and hearing 'Can't help thinking about me' by David Bowie and the Lower Third. I thought, there's something special here. There was something about his voice that stayed in my head.
spectoremg
Ashes to Ashes. Just when I thought he was finished (again) he came up with Scary Monsters with this diamond on it.

Cosmo Valdemar
Either John, I'm Only Dancing, for being the first complete bassline I ever learned, or Heroes, just because it's Heroes.
Cato
I've always found 'life on mars' very poignant which is odd as the lyrics are so completely abstract.

rushbo
Starman...mainly because it takes me back to 1972 every time I hear it. And as for that incredible Top of the Pops performance... Oopsdabassist
Its always been Heroes for me, so much emotion in one song, but Blackstar is just so damn weird...and current..and so...Bowie....

BassTractor
"Warszawa". It was the song that drew me to his work, and it has always done it for me. Other than that: "Subterraneans" as well as "Heroes", though there really are dozens.
roceci
Soooo many to choose from but Blackout from Heroes is one of his greatest hidden gems for me. Bowie in full poetic pomp over Murray & Davis' trashy, monstrous funk groove. Love it.
seashell
So many to choose from, so I'm going to go with one that brings back some great personal memories for me. 'Warsawa' from the Low album. A lovely atmospheric track. Also reminds me of a play I was in when I was at Uni, and it was used as background music. We were so arty farty and we thought we were so cool. Happy days. clauster
Songs from 6 different decades mean I just can't choose one. The one I've linked to on FB today though is "Everyone Says Hi" just because I thought most people would go for classics
