XB26354 Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 Loving The Alien - if only to prove that he could still come up with a gem on what was regarded as a less than stellar album. Quote
Grand Wazoo Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016
Under Pressure although it was with the Queen, but I think he co-wrote it. Nicko Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 Rock and Roll Suicide is probably my fave Bowie song to listen to Quote
lonestar Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 Too many to chose but just heard Drive in Saturday on the radio which would certainly be a contender Quote
CHW Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 In our household it is probably Life on Mars, now forever entrenched with the end of the TV series. Whenever it comes around on the playlist in the car I cannot stop myself seeing John Simm wandering around on the top of the council offices in Stockport before leaping off at the culmination of the song. Quote
HowieBass Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 Too many to choose from, but I never tire of hearing 'Changes'... apt for him too. Quote
dlloyd Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 So many of them... Rebel Rebel, China Girl, Fame and Ashes to Ashes are all great fun to play. Quote
Lozz196 Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 Ah there are so many, but the one I always like when I hear it come on the radio/sound-system in a pub is Modern Love. Lot of nostalgia involved in that song for me. Quote
Annoying Twit Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 Too many to choose, but "Ashes to Ashes" and "Heroes" are two of my favourites. Quote
Bass Culture Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 Early years: The Bewlay Brothers; Middle years: DJ; Later years (I'm stretching this a bit): Jump They Say. There again, I could compile about 20 versions of that list with no duplications at all. I mean, just how does one man write so many brilliant songs?! Quote
chrisba Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 I'm not a real fan either, but the band I used to play in played Slip Away, which has very weird words which only made sense if you watched a certain American kids TV program, and a lovely Stylophone solo at the end. Probably my favourite of his stuff, it really got under my skin after playing it. Like Life on Mars and China Girl too, if I have to be more conventional. Quote
Conan Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 Another predictable vote for Heroes... and The Bewlay Brothers - I just love love the feel and atmosphere of that one (and indeed the whole of Hunky Dory). Quote
Bassman68 Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 Man who sold the world, Boys keep swinging, Scary monsters, Heroes.....Too many choices! Quote
ubit Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 I always loved panic in Detroit , but if it's the more popular ones, then Thursday's child is superb! Quote
christofloffer Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 always had a lot of love for "time" and "rock and roll suicide" myself. though i like most of his stuff, those two are right at the top of the pile for me. Quote
toneknob Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 This is all kinds of awesome. I'll have changed my mind by tomorrow/this evening/tea time. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VO96nhky0nY The recorded version features Bowie's lowest sung note, fact fans. Quote
Bassmonkey Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 Quicksand. Memory of a free festival. Bewlay Brothers. Wild eyed boy from Freecloud....etc etc... Quote
TransistorBassMan Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 Heroes, Rebel Rebel, Boys Keep Swinging. And one cover - Sorrow Quote
EBS_freak Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7icGpchTH4c @2:05 "My c**k is still sore from last night" Player. Quote
Norm Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016
Sound & Vision Love that Eno bassline..
+1 to that! So many great songs, I Iove "Fame" & "Young Americans" too. Quote
toneknob Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 More awesome. Look out for Garson, Gabrels and whoever the drummer is here. Amazing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xup_RSisiWQ Quote
