"All The Young Dudes"
[/quote]Yes, both the Mott version and the one on 'David Live'
When I heard the news 'Look back in anger' is the song that I needed to hear first. Ask me tomorrow and it could be totally different, so much incredible music to choose from.

You only have to start the process of identifying s favourite to realise just what an extraordinary talent he was. I agree with nearly all the selections so far!

Mine is probably "The Man Who Sold The World" I just love the haunting vocals at the back end of the song....same with Under Pressure....my biggest memory of Bowie was his performance at Live Aid I was proper moved!

More awesome. Look out for Garson, Gabrels and whoever the drummer is here. Amazing.

The drummer is Zachary Alford I believe. Note how Carlos Alomar (the other guitarist) makes do with a tiny pedalboard...

I always loved panic in Detroit

A band I was once in, not long after I started playing bass, made me learn this, it nearly killed me, but what a song!
That's the thing with Bowie, as soon as you nail your colours to the mast, along comes someone else to remind you of yet another great song!

Crikey! I have no idea how to choose! I don't think I've ever heard a song of his that I don't like (although to be fair there are some gaps in my knowledge...), but if pressed I'd have to say that his early stuff resonates most for me. Let's just say 'anything from Ziggy Stardust'. I'd rather not choose beyond there if that's ok with everybody...

Starman...mainly because it takes me back to 1972 every time I hear it. And as for that incredible Top of the Pops performance...

Today it's this for me also. The moment a black & white world turned vivid Technicolor and things were never quite the same again..

Sound And Vision. I love the long intro before the vocals finally kick in. Also The Man Who Sold The World. Nirvana did a good cover of that.

Well I was thinking back to my youth in the 70's but just listened to this. It's only a couple of years old its amongst the good stuff The Stars.

So hard to say, but as well as most of the above I'd say Station to Station, Wild Is The WInd, Five Years and Cat People.
