AinsleyWalker
I'm looking to get a slightly wider, perhaps padded, strap for my stingray to prevent my back from aching. Nothing fancy or oversized, preferably black, any suggestions? Also, any suggestions for brands of strap locks for the same bass?
Old Horse Murphy
I use Mono Betty straps and Schaller straplocks on my Ray (well, all my basses)

But i was thinking of trying out some of those Loxx straplocks - they look like a good idea.
Bobthedog
Comfort Strapp and Dunlop strap locks for me. I had Schaller but they kept coming loose. The dunlops give me much more confidence. The Comfort Strapp is superb.

TrevorR
I like Italia Straps. They do nice 4" wide ones in lovely leather. Use them on all my basses. They take a wee while to arrive coz they are shipped direct from the US and they seem to make them up on order a lot. Great comfy straps though. http://www.italiastraps.com And my preference is for Jim Dunlop Strap Loks rather than Schallers.
LayDownThaFunk
Grolsch straplocks!
AinsleyWalker
Thanks for all the tips. I went for Schaller, due to them being on the same site as other stuff I needed... They arrive tomorrow so I'll give my verdict shortly!

fretmeister
Neotech Mega Bass strap. Brilliant for a bad back. Amazon have them, as does Bass Gear.
Guinness21
I use Mono Betty straps and Ernie Ball strap locks on my stingray.
paul_5
Dunlop straplocks for me. Tried a couple of other brands, but I prefer the Dunlops.
chris_b
On my MM SR5 I had Dunlops and a 3 inch wide leather strap. If you can find them. . . Allparts strap locks are re badged Dunlops, at half the price.
Grangur
I use Warwick strap locks on the Warwicks and tap washers on the others. (Same as Grolsch washers but you get them from Homebass)
ezbass
I used one of these http://www.guitarguitar.co.uk/guitarstraps_detail.asp?stock=09111216204038 with all of my Stingrays and finally settled on Grolsch bottle stopper washers as straplocks after using both the Schaller and Dunlop systems. PlungerModerno
Grolsch straplocks!
This . . . or plain old washers. This only makes sense if you have a strap for each bass of course. It's taking straps on and off that wears them out IME - they always wear out by the strap buttons. Since I started using washers - this stopped happening.
Dan Dare
Yes to large washers if you can leave the strap attached - one washer each side of the strap. Will never fall off unless the screws pull out of the bass. Edited February 11, 2016 by Dan Dare
bassix
I used to use schaller but let's be fair the grolsch/washer approach looks far cooler! I just chuck one over the strap, never had any problems.
