I've listed this in Amps and Cabs For Sale but it seems a good idea to list it here also. Phil Jones Briefcase http://philjonesbass...case-bass-combo, in my opinion the best of the small portable small gig combos and perfect for DB, especially as it can be carried to the gig at the same time as the DB. As you can see from the pics, It's in very good condition, albeit suffering from that odd little 'thwump' noise that around 50% of PJB gear makes when you switch it off. I've gigged this with DB about 20 times and about the same with acoustic bass, and it really is an outstanding little amp. I tend to stick it under a chair for DB gigs and most folks - including a few musicians on the stage - simply think they're hearing the natural sound of the DB and marvel at my ability to project :) Tone wise, it's beautifully transparent but, perhaps contradicting this, also appears to flatter the instrument. It also project nicely, even in some quite big rooms, and works well with electric bass, acoustic bass, acoustic guitar, mandolin and even electric fiddle.

At £300 it's a bargain, new price is close to twice that I believe.

I'm glad you mentioned the Thwump as mine does that but other than that it's great. In addition to your uses, when I've been travelling light, I've used it really successfully with electric guitars that have active electronics too.
PJB does make great sounding gear.

Thanks jazzyvee, I've used it with a Strat and it's not at all bad, but probably needs a box ahead of it to get any sort of grit. I suspect the best tone I've heard through this was an old 70's passive Yamaha Precision, if the source tone is good, the PJB tends to make it even better! Having said that, I've yet to hear a bass sound bad through it, even - surprisingly to my mind - my Ric strung with rounds was rather nice :)
