alyctes
To the best of my knowledge, this body shape belongs either to a Kramer the Duke, or to a Hondo Alien (I have one of each, as it happens). The sharp corners on the neck end plate make me think it's a Duke; IIRC the Aliens had rounded corners (just as well, the thing is lethal). Also the Alien was labelled on the front. I don't think it has anything to do with Steinberger. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Used-Steinberger-Style-Headless-Electric-Bass-Guitar-in-Black-/291658752330?hash=item43e837614a:g:8sgAAOSwHaBWlZDQ
alyctes
I've messaged the seller; I'll be interested to see what they say. (Obviously this is the point when someone tells me I'm wrong )
RhysP
Looks like a Duke to me, with modified pickups/circuitry.
alyctes
I got a nice message back from the seller saying thanks and they'd pulled the ad because they couldn't be sure of what it was. It appears they have pulled the ad; however, there is also this... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Used-Steinberger-Style-Headless-Electric-Bass-Guitar-in-Black/291660128301?_trksid=p2047675.c100011.m1850&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20140107083358%26meid%3De1eb6f4668254b39b321d519ec36c571%26pid%3D100011%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D3%26sd%3D291658752330
alyctes
Looks like a Duke to me, with modified pickups/circuitry.
I think so. My Duke has a single humbucker, but I don't know for sure whether there were other configs. That double-switch arrangement does look like a mod though. Bassassin
The cheap hardware would suggest Hondo (or a differently badged version of the same bass) to me. The Kramers I've seen had Schaller tuners & bridge. Jon.
Vinny
But does it have as dubious a label as this one?
It's close but not quite a B2. It has a set neck & conventional soapbars - B2s have through necks & guitar-type pickups. This looks the same, as far as I remember, as a German brand that was on Ebay a few years back selling B2-alikes. Can't recall the name, I think it was 2 initials. They even did a twin neck version.
