Number6
Obviously I haven't recalled correctly. I wonder who it was then? It was somebody who sent theirs back,
I remember the chat but cannot remember who sent theirs back either :/
Vinny
You don't know how pleased I am to see you confirm that! Thought I was being even less competent than I thought!
Just suppose I'll have to look even dafter than usual now, then.

Happy Jack
Kinsman guitar stool. Completely stable, takes any type of bass, and you can sit down during drum solos.
Coilte
This is my take on stands....My bass will stay put resting against my cab unless other forces come into play. If other forces do interfere, I don't think the Stage Legend or others of its ilk will prevent it from going to ground. I've tried many and can't fault Hercules.
I agree about the Hercules "hang stands". Personally I'd always prefer using a stand to leaving the bass against the cab. Granted, if "other forces" come into play, the stand wont be much good. However, when leaning the bass against the cab..it has the potential (for no particular reason) to simply slip, depending on the surface. jazzyvee
One useful gadget thats always in my gig bag is this by Mark bass. If I forget my regular bass stand I can use this and it's secure and held in place extremely well and as long as you don't leave the jack lead in the bass it will stay put until you open the velcro. KiOgon
The Fender Universal is adjustable for almost any shape, I've just had a Jazz on mine - now a Thunderbid & it's the best fitting & stable stand IMO, not so cheap & not so small when folded but highly recommended. But if you can find one here! I like the idea of carrying one of these in my gig bag permanently.
timmo
I had a Hercules stand. It didn`t stand up too a drunk crashing into it and breaking . I assume that any stand that holds and doesn`t fall over on its own should be ok. I doubt there is any stand that can withstand a direct hit from a drunk. The worst part is I only had it for a week
