Bass_In_Yer_Face
Anyone know where you can get the tabs for this track? I just can't seem to get it right even when it's slowed down to half speed so I can listen carefully. Either 'Nard' had his strings detuned or something because I cannot seem to find the notes his playing!
Hamster
I expect you've done youtube? This is a pretty good effort and you can see all those little octave slides and passing notes

Floyd Pepper
There's also Stu Clayton's book on 'nard, I'm sure it's got the tab for it in there...plus others. FP

I've got something that slows video down but loses sound whilst doing so but I bet there's something out there that will do this. Downloading is easy http://youtubedownload.altervista.org/ will save any YouTube file &/or convert it to MP3 for you. CJPJ
Anyone have any good updates to this - still nothing on YouTube that is particularly helpful or any bass tab? I can't see the link on the earlier posts so not sure what was out there.
chris_b
It's in Bb. The verse is D/G/ | Eb/Bb/ | Edit.... Oooops.... it's actually | G/D/ | Eb/Bb/ | Edited June 9, 2012 by chris_b
EssentialTension
It's in Stuart Clayton's book: http://stuartclayton.com/books/nile-rodgers-bernard-edwards-funk-disco-grooves-for-bass-guitar/
JTUK
It's in Bb. The verse is D/G/ | Eb/Bb/ |
and that is all you need to know... then all you need to do is get your head round the general style and run with it. Try singing along with the bass line to get the general groove and then play what you can sing/hum Making it sit and making it work and move will help you far more than ripping every little nuance and note. Play it with your own personality... and if that is any good, you'l leap-frog all the imitators.

4 Strings
Just been learning this one myself. Find it necessary not to panic more than anything. It is a pretty simple thing when you listen but really hard to get sounding anything like right.

chris_b
....It is a pretty simple thing....
The basis of Bernard Edwards bass lines is that they are always very simple. They are far more complicated play, though, because he fills them up with ghost notes, accents and pushes. The problem is that it doesn't sound right if you try to leave any of that stuff out.

JTUK
Have to say the last one is not the video you'd want to post. It has no pop or groove...... take 2...and counting................

It think I'd be pretty pleased with either of them.
