ras52 Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 I didn't see this one coming: http://petergabriel.com/news/peter-and-sting-tour-2016/ Quote
wateroftyne Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 It's an odd one. PG's band are pretty unconventional, so I assume they'll be taking two bands out with them. But then, I'd like to hear PG with Sting's band behind him. That would be pretty cool. Quote
discreet Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 It's too weird and I don't believe it. Quote
CamdenRob Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 Didn't he do something similar with Paul Simon last year? My folks went to the O2 gig and thought it was excellent. Quote
Rich Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 Lucky old USA and Canada. I wonder if the rest of us will get a look in? Quote

Happy Jack Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 Every little thing he does is Sledgehammer. Quote
ambient Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 Peter Gabriel is great. I don't like Sting though. I was hoping for a new Gabriel studio album. They've been recording it for years. Quote
hubrad Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 Well, obviously neither of them needs to do it for reasons of finance or exposure, so they must think it works. Probably a brilliant vibe onstage! :-) Quote

toneknob Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 I love PG (and Sting to a lesser extent when he's not faffing around with lutes ffs) but for heavens sake do some new material Pete. Quote
ahpook Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016
Peter Gabriel is great. I don't like Sting though.
Go for a curry first, miss the support, then elbow your way to the front. Everyone else at gigs I go to seems to do it. Quote
ras52 Posted January 19, 2016 Author Posted January 19, 2016
Is it only me..?
Somewhere between that and this: Quote

ras52 Posted January 19, 2016 Author Posted January 19, 2016
Watch the video. It's both of them, then one of them, then both again, then something else I forget.
That's better than when I saw Ethel (the string quartet), Joe Jackson and Todd Rundgren: they each played a solo set (that's Joe completely solo and Todd completely solo) then all got on stage together for just two or three numbers. What'll be interesting here is the possibility of Gabriel-flavoured performances of Sting songs and vice versa. Quote
spectoremg Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 Is it one of those eighties revival tours? Where's Tony Hadley and Boy George? Quote

RhysP Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016
Very Brian Pern...
What, you mean not even remotely funny? Quote
sblueplanet Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 Expect to pay through the roof for the privilage of seeing two big Artists together. The Sting/Simon tour tickets in UK were around the £100 mark. No thanks. Quote
ambient Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 I'd rather wait and hopefully see Gabriel on his own. I've seen him on DVD and his shows are amazing, String is always rather pretentious. Quote

RhysP Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 If they'd done this in the 80s or 90s I would have gone. Neither of them has done anything remotely interesting (IMO) for donkeys years so I won't be bothering. Quote
