Hmm, bit of a gap between me and the next person - no other helpful BCers in Scotland?
[/quote]

I'm further south than you (7 miles!!) so hopefully that fills the gap a little. :D

I've done bass set-ups, pickup and preamp changes, wiring repairs and changes such as adding coil split switching, shielding, battery box routing (eek!) etc. I will try and help fellow chatters where I can.

Based on the South Coast too at Poole Dorset. Often in Bournemouth, Southampton, Romsey and Winchester areas. Will do basic setup and any electrics/electronics. Including action, intonation, pickup replacement, preamp design and/or installation, pots, caps Jack sockets and general wiring.

Custom instrument cables and speaker/speakon leads.

Still learning fretwork and finishing so can't do that at the moment.

Put me down for Portsmouth. Been doing set-ups, basic repairs, mods and refinishes for a few years now.

EDIT - The Hampshire Portsmouth, not the other one.

Me. Wirral. Would love to live in North Hants. :)

Also teaching and teching. Last client was Steve Harley

Corrected... Steve Harley, like as in Cockney Rebel!?

I'll chuck my hat in the ring.... I'm in Leeds. I can handle most common set up and mod jobs, except the really advanced/awkward stuff and refinishes, and if I can't do it I know exactly where to refer folks to. 😀
Oh and I have a good selection of teas!

Many thanks to all those who've added their names to the list so far.

Don't forget though guys; this is an online community. While meeting up is great, don't forget to post about it in the forum and promote discussion online first.

No Mod has said anything to me about this, but I don't want this to stop discussions in the repairs forum. If we did my personal fav section of Basschat would go.

Thanks again guys.

I'm based in Edinburgh, and I'm happy to help with set ups and wiring. I don't have the tools for fret dressing, refrets or structural repairs but happy to help with pretty much anything else.

Great thread!

Sadly, I don't have any technical/craftsman skills to offer I'm afraid, but it's good to know that so many fellow Basschatters do, and are willing to help. :)

Thanks. I just checked the list and added Neilp. I think that's everyone, so far.

Sorry for the delay in responding - I have a Yamaha Attitude that buzzes/dead notes from about the 15th fret upwards. It also has an action that gymnasts could do their party pieces on.

I also have a Fender Jazz std that I just don't use because it's so difficult to play due to poor setup.

Huh! The extremes some folk will go to just to get first billing in this list amazes me!
