TrevorR
From Yellow Brick Road. absolutely love this album. Rocket Man is very special.

Donald's Night Fly. Love the walking bassline on this. its probably my favourite album of all time.
You're breaking you own rules now... I'll stick UK and published in the 80s though. Even that gives far too many to choose from to narrow it down to one. I've slimmed it right down to 10! Asia - Asia Yes - 90125 Capercaillie - Sidewalk ABC - Lexicon Of Love Genesis - Duke Gary Moore - The Wild Frontier Alan Parsons Project - Eye In The Sky & Gaudi ELO - Time Fairport Convention - In Real Time: Live '87 Edited January 24, 2016 by TrevorR

lowdown
One of my few UK album likes - 'No Parlez', Paul Young. Pino bursting onto the scene.
DaytonaRik
For me it would have to be Def Leppard's Hysteria
xgsjx
Too hard to choose! There's a few great albums already been mentioned & I'd add New Order - Substance 1987, Simple Minds - New Gold Dream & Marillion - Misplaced Childhood. But I'm gonna go for something that got me into electronic stuff & remixing... Human League - Love and Dancing A remix album of Dare, which is also a great album. Such a creative artist he is. i remember back in the early 90's he came on to the Brit Awards or some show like that on stilts. in some weird costume. Fantastic musician. he reminds me of David Byrne for some reason. Maybe its the video. BottomE
Ooh some forgotten ones here. Protest Songs by Prefab Sprout meant so much to an angsty young BottomE. Tiffany's especially or Horse Chimes on that album. I really like the bass player too - very tasteful. Saw them live and they were knockout. Luulox
At the time it would have been "the works - Queen" played that album to death.
Gomez68
I loved the 80s sound rich in bass tones. Fave albums well too many to mention. Maude
Just too difficult to choose just one album. But one that has always stayed with me whichever way my musical taste is swaying is Disintegration by The Cure. To me it's just perfection from start to finish. Here's a wonderful live version of the title track. http://youtu.be/5wTx4DrCIKc Edited January 24, 2016 by Maude
RhythmSection
It's impossible to pick just one, there are too many to choose from. Some have already been mentioned above, a few more; The Photos - The Photos (1980) The Cure - Faith / Carnage Visors (1981) The Au Pairs - Playing With a Different Sex (1981) The Passions - Thirty Thousand feet over China (1981) Siouxsie and the Banshees - JuJu (1981) Gang Of 4 - Songs of the Free (1982) All heavily influenced me picking up the bass and I still listen to them today. Twigman
i am biased but this was the best album of the 80s Sad Lovers & Giants - Feeding the Flame I wasn't in the line up that recorded this album, I joined for the next album but I fell in love with this album and have been married to the band ever since. There's a full upload on youtube - but the track listing is incorrect - The video starts at their listed track4 (as did the vinyl) ....and there are a few websites that tend to agree with me!
