skidder652003 Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 (edited) So i went to look at this tonight http://classicandcoo...ngray-bass-4hh/ with every intention of part/ex, buying and actually walked away with this... http://classicandcoo...precision-1975/ What a great guy Mark is, completely helpful and relaxed, no hassle, he's also just been signed up as a Sandberg dealer and has some awesome deals about to go online, so check him out! http://classicandcoolguitars.co.uk/ I have no affiliation apart from living 5 minutes away and gigging in similar bands, and the wives are in the same book club! Anyway, next task is to sneak this past the commondant! Edited January 26, 2016 by skidder652003 Quote
discreet Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 Both amazing basses, you couldn't go wrong! Quote
roman_sub Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 the P bass looks amazing! what's the bridge pickup? Quote
Subbeh Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 I don't think I've ever used the term 'mojo' before but that bass appears to have plenty. Very nice! Quote
skidder652003 Posted January 27, 2016 Author Posted January 27, 2016
the P bass looks amazing! what's the bridge pickup?
It was fitted apparently by the origional owner in 1978, origion unknown. Its very bright and punchy, seems good for slap. The small metal switch selector is I think for single coil or the full humbucker, still early days getting to know it! Quote
FuNkShUi Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 That looks like an interesting bass!! Would love to have a blast on it Quote
CamdenRob Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 I've had some dealings with Mark in the past and he's a stand up guy honest, quick to respond to any queries and manages to get hold of some really interesting gear Enjoy the new bass, looks like a winner Quote
Coldflows Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 That pickup is unusual! Could it be a Gibson mudbucker type? It also looks similar to the pickups on Yamaha attitudes, albeit at the oppesite end of the bass. Still an awesome looking bass, I hope you enjoy it! Quote
uk_lefty Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 Looks tasty!!! Have been toying with putting an MM or jazz in my white 70s reissue P bass... You, and sandberg, May have tipped me to the edge Quote
geoffbyrne Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 (edited) Big pickup looks like a DiMarzio Model 1. If the mini switch is wired for 'bucker/single coil, it might be worth considering rewiring for 'bucker/parallel as this keeps pretty much the same sound but maintains humbucking in parallel mode. tom1946 Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 Mark is a great guy, I've had lots of deals with him and never had a problem, what was the stingray like? Quote
Cosmo Valdemar Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 I've dealt with Mark many times - top chap. You're lucky living so close, he has some wonderful basses at the moment! Quote
skidder652003 Posted January 27, 2016 Author Posted January 27, 2016
Mark is a great guy, I've had lots of deals with him and never had a problem, what was the stingray like?
Ah man the stingray was mint! I was really tempted but a little nervous how tidy it was as im a bit clumsy when gigging, but fabulous neck and a huge variety of tones, but...the 75 P just stood out, by the way I had a go on a couple of sandbergs and they were out of this world, the quality of the parts was astounding. Twincam Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 Both are very nice basses. I know what you mean about being nervous of something in such nice tidy condition. Lovely p bass you have. Quote
grayn Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 Congrats on a very tasty P-bass. That white EBMM HH looks awesome. Quote
skidder652003 Posted January 27, 2016 Author Posted January 27, 2016
Nice - all 10+ lbs of it
Thats ok, my amp weighs 90lb! Quote
ead Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 I admit to looking quite lustfully at this one, just not sure if I am cool enough and/or have the right shades to wear whilst playing it in front of people http://classicandcoolguitars.co.uk/portfolio/limelight-custom-00161/ Quote
Guinness21 Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 I'd have gone for the stingray personally (love HH's) but fair play, hope the two of you are very happy together Quote
mr zed Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 That Stingray HH has induced a serious amount of GAS for me and I already own one - not in white though. I could get into serious trouble.......! Quote
