randythoades
Distasteful attempt to cash in on the unhappy demise of Glenn Frey. A £50 Aria beginners guitar up for £5000 because of signed by The Eagles... disgraceful I think. ras52
"...my all time favourite band I am so sad with the passing of Glenn Fry..." I'm so sad that only £5k can console me, and perhaps help me to spell Glenn's name correctly. timmo
It is up too you if you want to pay the £5000 or not. People have been doing this with autographs for years. The amount of memorabilia that appeared after Michael Jackson died was the same. Maybe exploitation of the artist, but I wouldn`t say it is distasetful, just opportunistic.. The only thing that baffles me, is that I wouldn`t sell it if I was as big an Eagles fan as he is claiming.
colgraff
I'm not concerned about such things but can see why the OP is. A couple of years ago I had the opportunity to buy a Lemmy signature 4004 bass and confess that when he died I found myself wishing that I had bought it because the value had probably risen sharply in the short term. RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE
I suppose it all depends really . The seller may get a couple of hundred for it IMHO . The description wouldn't show on my iPhone for some reason. I've always been a fan of metal ( and ambient ). As a kid , I was a collector , more by accident . When I was playing my older brothers vinyl, it had the box shape lp cover, it was an original pressing , original inner sleeve etc. Buying the same thing news few. Years later, all of that was missing . The pressing was crap etc. I was a huge fan of iron maiden . Saw them around 20 or so times . I found a copy of their very first release , which I could only get by post.(£1.20) Because my tastes changed/ not playing vinyl anymore/ and being really broke , I sold it on eBay for £370.result. I met Metallica in shades record shop one lunchtime . Got severely told off by my bosses . They signed a white label test pressing , which I paid £1.2o in Camden market . Because cliff died , i got over a grand for that and the poster . Still a fan , but it made sense to sell at ghe time 12 years ago.' When pic discs came out , they were rare . When CDs came out , I sold the pic discs. Being poor, from a working class background , sometimes you're forced to sell.
scrumpymike
The only bit I find distasteful is the seller's dubious claim to be a heart-broken, big fan - unnecessary and unlikely, given the spelling mistake.
I used to always go to the Notting hill record & tape exchange in the 80/90s. One Saturday morning , one of the guys behind the counter showed me a ric, that was supposed. To be one of lemmys for sale . They wanted £1000 for it . 1) it didn't feel playable 2) was it lemmys ?? 3) I couldn't afford it . 4) that shop was a rip off most of the time ,)
Mykesbass
Quite amazing that they signed a guitar that had pretty obviously only been bough for that purpose. No wonder some artists are becoming less approachable when it comes to autographs.
RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE
Yngwie malmsteen , hates that kind of stuff with a passion.Apparently , he personaloses everything he signs . A few years back , at a gig he headlined at the hammy O , he threw a guitar into the crowd. Me and my friend caught the body. I let m friend have it . He received a lot of abuse from malmsteens fans on their fan club website . He did sell it eventually I think. He got malmsteen to sign it also
randythoades
I have no problem with the selling of autographed or 'star' related memorabilia, I think it is just about the timing. It seems to have been listed originally on 18th or 19th January which is either the day or day after the man passed away. Come on, have a heart. colgraff
I get where Randy is coming from, but I have to disagree with him on this one. Sorry to be contrary.
