Skinnyman
Apologies if this is a dumb question but it's best to be sure..... I'm thinking of getting a Roland Gr55 which I intend to use mainly with guitar but occasionally with bass. My question is whether I need the GK3b pickup on the bass or whether the standard Gk3 will also work? Thanks...
hubrad
I've never looked closely at the 3, but I would assume the string spacing to only work on guitar.. certainly on the 3b you have to set the spacing on the pickup, and even narrow bass spacing is way more than guitar. Woodinblack
Yes, you need the GK-3B. The GK3 has a much finer string spacing and will not work on the bass (unless you have a very narrow bass spacing). The GK-3B allows a string spacing between 16 and 19mm And also it is a pain to remove the pickup, so you wouldn't want to move them between the guitar and the bass Edited January 27, 2016 by Woodinblack
Skinnyman
Brilliant, thanks. I'll have to see if I can do a deal on a GK3B when I order the gr55. Supplementary question...(or I could RTFM) If I'm playing it through the bass, can I have the Gr55 set to play one or two octaves above what I'm playing on the bass? Thanks again for the help
