I liked Terry Wogan. He was the polar opposite of pretty much everything I look for in a broadcaster/presenter, but he was just so damn likeable.

And as I posted previously, Piers Morgan is still alive.

I think the most respectful thing would be to bury the Euro vision song contest with him!

Seriously though, one hell of a career, and always really engaging. A real loss. RIP.

Such an important man in the UK music industry, broke hundreds of records and bands - his was one of the few shows that had any real impact on sales for many years. Can this post be merged into General Discussion, as that is where he deserves to be?

My Mum used to love his show back in the sixties. His laid back wit was such a refreshing change from all the zany radio 1 DJ's, or the stuffy old fogies on R 2.

I first heard Fleet Foxes on his show in the noughties. What a career!

I recall (with a grin) that he played Peter Sarstedts 'take off your clothes' in error
(I was there, I did hear it).
Thus propelling said artist off the airwaves almost indefinitely.........

Terry will be greatly missed, he was an icon.

Just woken up to this (yes, I know what time it is!) - Sir Tel was a staple of my morning for so many years, I feel like I've lost a favorite uncle. Funny, silly, kind and sincere; loved him. So sad he has gone.

Really sad news. He made me laugh both man and boy.

When I was a kid I used to listen to him on the radio before going to school, and the songs I always associate with him and then, and will listen to today, are Paul Simon's Slip Sliding Away and Hoyt Axton's Della and the Dealer.

Years later he had me in stiches, laughing out loud, tears in my eyes, on the District Line on my way to work in Fulham.

More tears today.

What a man. RIP Sir Terry Wogan.
