FuNkShUi
Here's mine: https://soundcloud.c...a-fied/noodle-1 Sorry for the lack of editing Free time is scarce in my house, so i recorded what i had in my head, and that will have to do! I've showed you mine, now lets see yours Recorded straight into laptop via garage band. AJR bass guitar. 22% reverb. Other than that, its a dry signal with no EQ tweaking, or no amp simulations etc. Like i said... no time Edited February 3, 2016 by FuNkShUi
Twincam
Another good one funkshui, I enjoyed that a lot nice and mellow, seems nicely recorded too unlike my dirty recording. Nice harmonics. Ok here is mine comes in at 59 seconds. Recorded it simply as possible iPad infront of cab. If anyone is wondering I'm on a 90s usa p bass, tapewounds. And I eq'ed the cab a bit thin on bass as I wasn't sure about how the mic would cope I think I could of added more bass and a touch less treble. This was a one take recording too. The noodle itself just formed so I hope I've not copied anything. I was messing about with upstrokes finger style. It then went on to form a longer song inspired by the seasons. https://youtu.be/QI32oXfYh1I Edited February 3, 2016 by Twincam
FuNkShUi
Cheers Twincam. Recording was VERY basic, but it's what i have time for/available. Thought yours sounded bloody good for an ipad infront of a cab!!! Liked the riff. The second phrasing reminded me of "Carousel" by Blink 182. I have good memories of those times!! xgsjx
I recorded a wee bassline 'tother day with this thread in mind. But I've since added a guitar line to it too. I'll upload the bassline for the noodle comp & I'll also link the further works that's came from it.

Skol303
Really good entries! Well done guys. All very tuneful. And there was me expecting a barrage of overdriven, machine gun-style 16ths! Hopefully there'll be room for some of that too Keep 'em coming. Agwin
Really enjoying hearing everyone’s noodles thus far – I’m glad I wasn’t left out to dry all by myself. It never ceases to amaze me what us bass players can come up with when we’re freed from our usual job of pinning down a band. As always when I hear other bass players I end up thinking, "I wish I could do that." Nice one gentlemen. If it takes off, how about calling it the Basschat Noodle Bar? Twincam
Just listened to xgsjx' s I thought it was really interesting (in a good way), there was a few sounds in there that really got my attention. And also listened to camdenrob's and what I really liked was some of the nice note definition, that I assume is recorded direct? Could you get that definition through a cab, I think I would have trouble getting the seperation and lack of boom (even in higher notes) through my current rig unless I really eq'ed the bass out. I also liked the string noise, It was just at the right level too really add to it. I have enjoyed everyone's noodle and look forward to more.
Thanks for the comments, I always appreciate anyone actually taking the time to listen to anything I've put up To be honest I much prefer the tone I get from my rig to that I've managed to capture here with my rudimentary (at best) recording skills A few factors involved in trying to get it as clear as possible; I played the piece right over the bridge pickup, almost on the bridge itself to cut down on the plumby ovetones. I also have Wal pickups which have a coil per pole piece, so essentially four mini pickups per string, which helps with the separation, and finally I'm kinda cheating by using a six string as those higher notes on the high C are well into guitar territory. Next month I think I'll just do a bass line something low down that actually sounds like a bass! Enjoying listening to everyone's efforts so far. There are some great players out there in BC land... It's interesting to hear different peoples techniques, I've heard some bits in these noodles that have inspired me to experiment with some different styles and techniques. You don't often hear bass in isolation like this where you can pick up on all the nuances, it's all good Edited February 5, 2016 by CamdenRob

the boy
At this rate, there will be almost 50 entries in total by the end of the month. I really love two so far. The rest are all really nice as well. Great idea, I will need to listen and mine as the month progresses as I doubt I'll find time to listen to them all in one hit at the end. Very excited.
I too was thinking something similar and don't hate her but my gf who plays a little too said "we all sound very guitar like" as I had been playing them to her. And it would be fun to see what people come up with in the first position haha. But I kinda get my girlfriends point and now backed up by a few posts, but I've really enjoyed all the noodles and think they have been great and 60 seconds makes it very easy to listen too if that makes sense. It's also shown how versatile bass is, I intend to undo that next month with my noodle haha, if the noodle challenge is still about.

Dad3353
OK, folks, here's a bass noodle. It's a repeated 7/4 riff, augmented by a 'double stroke' every 6 beats. Very hypnotic when played over a slow 4/4 drum beat, for instance. Season with stabbed keys and chicken-picking guitar to taste. Enjoy...
