Gear clearout: mixed results...

So, about three months ago I decided I needed to clear out most of my gear as I had too much that I wasn't using. In that time, three basses and four guitars have left my hands. Seven axes, not bad.

Four new ones though... two already here and two on the way.

Pretty par for the course? Is this how attempts to downsize end, with more GAS?

During the summer I had 11 basses.down to 3 now. I am setting myself a limit of 2. I just got a new fender Japan 70's p bass and I have a Old Fernandes p bass . That's it for me.

Part of me wishes I was one of those people who are content to have just one or maybe two basses that they keep forever and use for everything.

I managed to downsize from 13 basses to 7 but then discovered Bass Collection Nanyo - 3 of these basses later I'm back up to 10.

I've recently cleared out a few basses, amps, cabs, effects etc. I still intend to get down to one fretted and one fretless Wal sixer when the fretless arrives, but I'm sure I will end up with a few others along the way.

...but i would like a decent P bass... and maybe a vintage jazz... perhaps a Wal fretted four... oh and a berg cn112 as well.

This is the absolute truth. Three of the four basses were from here (two were partial trades so it doesn't feel so bad).

It's a new year clear out for me too. Mostly, something else is on the way in, depending on what I am doing musically I suppose, but I think this may be the beginning of a more serious enforced downsizing. There's nothing I really need at the moment..well.. maybe a Gen3 BTII.. oh ..it's starting already... ha ha

All this talk of downsizing is just weird. I want more stuff. Next on the list is an eub then a real db. Buy more, keep this place alive.

I went from 5 to 0 almost overnight after a head injury that meant I had to sell pretty much anything. On the way up now with a Squier VMP5!
