Mizzle
Hi all, I find myself looking for a pedal to fit between or after my BB Preamp and TFR i'm not 100% what, but I think I am looking for a pedal that has a high mid orientated drive or possibly even a little scooped at the moment leaning towards a b3k/7k but open to suggestions. Other pedals I have: Mountain King Megalith Little Big Muff DHA ValveTone VT2 Standard Dual Bass Old Sansamp bass The 3 main basses I use (not all at once normally take one) - P-bass, Dingwall NG-2, Warwick Thumb Amp - main ones would probably be Genz STL 900 & Shuttle 600 but also have a Matamp GT200 (older one). Cab - Berg 610 (not as much use as a pain to move around and not many venues like to see something like that turn up) and a Barefaced Compact (2nd gen) which is my main gigging cab. In 2 bands the 1st an originals/cover band playing rock mostly GNR, Rolling Stones, ZZ Top etc, the 2nd band is more soul, funk, pop etc. Thanks Matt
dannybuoy
Darkglass BXK is a perfect fit for the Dingwall NG-2 and Thumb. I think they sound best with a naturally scooped growly bass and not so great with a Precision though (I prefer the Vulcan with a P). If you're after something more compressed and amp-like, yet still growly as you like and works wonderfully with just about any bass, check out the Aguilar Agro or VT Bass. The Creation Audio Grizzly and Two Notes Le Bass also would also fit well but I've yet to try them!
GazWills
well, I use a passive P and three main dirt pedals, the same BB preamp and TFR that you do, with a COG rat pedal (TK412x) in the middle. I think it is a very good type of pedal to go between the BB and the TFR. Certainly, some sort of nastier, raspy distortion would, IMO, fit between those two nicely... Mizzle
Thanks for the replies so far the BXK and the COG as suggested were 2 that I was thinking (B3K and COG similarly priced at the moment) I'm not ready to bite the bullet and no funds yet either but just getting some ideas. Cameronj279
I use a B3K with my NG-2 and it sounds excellent. I've also previously used it with a Warwick Thumb I used to own and sounded even better with that. All of these were ran through a Genz Benz shuttle 9.0.
