tommorichards Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 For sale £150 The man behind the chowny semi hollow basses had this made up as a prototype in china, being a mix between a stingray (body shape) and a rick (the rest of it). Sounds pretty decent, not exactly like a rick, but something close. The neck pickup has the deep you'd imagine, while the bridge pickup doesnt have too much thin. And together just sounds lovely. Its a tad dusty, could do with some new strings, but besides that, it is a sweet bass. Quite comfortable. Pickguard is a little rough, but works. Even has a nice bit of flame maple on the top if you're into that sort of thing. Based in wallasey. Swing by for a try if you wish. Id prefer not to post, and can meet up halfway somewhere. Pics below.
Chownybass Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 Wow! Made me chuckle to see this. This was a long way back we made this prototype. We never did go down that route. The only thing in common with our basses now is the logo and TRC shape.
Britsie Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 What's the scale of the bass? And the weight?
3below Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 Looks rather good for an excellent price. Must resist getting yet another bass.
tommorichards Posted February 19, 2016 Author Posted February 19, 2016 fairly light, and normal scale, 34"
Britsie Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 What do the controls do? Is the neck chunky or not?
tommorichards Posted March 2, 2016 Author Posted March 2, 2016 The controls are as the rick, volume and tone per pickup, and a three way selector. The neck is about p bass width, and is in the middle depth wise. So not too chunky.
