Dazed Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 I've been reading about these out of production basses from the early 90's. The build seems good with EMG made pickups. Has anyone played one or got one? Searched YouTube but not much coming up, and what does isn't great quality. I'm interested in how they sound and play, particularly the 6ers. Quote
Dazed Posted February 14, 2016 Author Posted February 14, 2016 Surely not an unplayed bass amongst bass chattererers's? I didn't think it was possible? Quote
Rich Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 Must admit it's a name I've only come across a couple of times in the dim distant past. Never actually seen one in the flesh/wood/whatever, but from what I've seen via google they look good. Quote
Shockwave Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 Great basses, never found a light one though, quite heavy. Sound great and really should have taken off but they were competing in a crowded market. The 6 strings had wide spacing for the time which I would have loved. Quote
Dazed Posted February 16, 2016 Author Posted February 16, 2016 I've read the pre amp eats batteries? Did you find this? They look really well made, an alternative to the Yamaha trb 6. Just wish I could find one! Quote
visog Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 Steve Bailey used to endorse them I think... I know this doesn't really narrow down the field much (*coughs Aria Fender Warwick*) but they seemed to be an early candidate for good quality production 6ers... Not sure I ever saw a 4 or 5? Quote
Bassassin Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 There were 4s & 5s. Never seen one in real life but I do know Heartfields were Fujigen-built basses - which probably explains the resemblance to Ibanez Soundgears. Nice paintjob: Jon. Quote
Dazed Posted February 16, 2016 Author Posted February 16, 2016 Yeah Steve Bailey was an endorser, back in his spandex yoga pant days but that's another story. There were 4/5/6 version neck through (C)ustom with fancy tops (their description) and the standard version which was a bolt on and alder body. Quote
Shockwave Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 I know Wunjos in London have a DR5 as of a few weeks ago. They may still have it. Quote
