thebassist Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 I was saving money for a Fodera when this came up and scuppered my plans! CamdenRob Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 What are the differences between them tonally? Quote
keefbaker Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 I think I actually actively hate you right now. So er... where do you live? and where's the nearest van hire? And clothing shop that might sell balaclavas? No reason In all serious it looks wonderful, as does your 64. So jealous. Quote
I'd say the '72 is a bit brighter and louder to my ear but I'm definitely no expert. They both have a classic Jazz Bass honk. Quote

This is real nice to play but I reckon a refret will have to happen at some point! Quote

Mind you, I'm after an Aguilar SL 112 and I think I'm going to have to buy new now. Need it in the next six weeks! You're right though, on these vintage basses, as long as they're looked after they should appreciate in value Edited February 2, 2016 by thebassist Quote
Dazed Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 Wow and wow again!! Excuse my boldness, but was this a private buy or from a trader and was it Fodera type money? Quote
Donnyboy Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 Very lovely, as is the 1964. I presume it was really cheap cos it's all beat up 'n'at...?😉 Quote

spiltmilk_2000 Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 You lucky lucky man! That's just about all the basses you'll ever need right there! Now get saving for that fodera! ;-) Quote

Guest Jecklin Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 (edited) I'm not a fan of fender, jazzes, sunburst, fingerboard inlays or tortoiseshell, HOWEVER that really is a handsome bass! I think it's the genuine wear that clinches it. Come up and play a gig in London so I can hear it in action Edited February 2, 2016 by Jecklin Quote

Geek99 Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 Will you please stop tormenting me like this? Now I will have to sell some children to get one like that for myself Quote
william64 Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 Great pair! Btw, my 1965 Precision would match them perfectly Quote

Emanew Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 Yes i understand you, thebassist 1972 JB are great. The more they have been battered all these years, the more they sound Now i take care of "her", old lady If i had to keep only one bass, it would be this one Quote
ambient Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 I don't get on with Jazz basses, but in the right hands they can sound amazing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wuY4JP5TcTk Quote
