dlloyd
Spotted this on ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Italia-Modulo-electric-bass-precision-style/351644845342?_trksid=p2047675.c100012.m1985&_trkparms=aid%3D555012%26algo%3DPW.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20140221143856%26meid%3D2f23431d12cc404085bf206d97a7382d%26pid%3D100012%26rk%3D7%26rkt%3D27%26sd%3D272122759805 That pickup arrangement is interesting... does it have any impact on the responsiveness of the bass? PlungerModerno
Cooooool. No idea if the single pickup per string makes a major difference - I suppose it depends how it's wired. I'd imagine they're each a single coil, with two of them RWRP to the other 2 to form two humbuckers or a giant "Quad bucker".
Kairyu
I initially thought it looked very cool until I saw the back... My God is the back ugly. At least the audience won't see it. Wasn't there a UK based luthier that made pickups for each string like 30 years ago?
Thunderbird
IMO I think all of the Italia basses I have seen look so cheap and nasty never tried one though
Truckstop
Looks awesome! Anyone know how much it's likely to go for?
BigRedX
IMO I think all of the Italia basses I have seen look so cheap and nasty never tried one though
I've tried most of them at a trade show. IMO they look great from a distance, however on close up you can see the fit and finish isn't particularly good and the "parts-bin" nature of their hardware is a lot more obvious. Playability is OK but I do think that overall you are paying a premium for the unusual looks over what a more conventional designed bass of similar build quality would cost. There are other manufacturers who do the faux vintage instrument look far better such as Hallmark.
