Rich Posted February 4, 2016 Posted February 4, 2016 Ok. This year is REALLY starting to piss me off. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-35499149 Quote

I think we're in for a few more shocks this year, a lot of musos are reaching a certain age. C'mon Reaper, take a break. Quote
cetera Posted February 4, 2016 Posted February 4, 2016 A legend...... This year is starting so badly. Sadly, I expect the forthcoming years to be a gradual culling of all my faves..... such is the age they are all reaching..... Quote
Bassman Sam Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 This is the worst start to a new year I can remember. Quote
timmo Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 Very sad. One of the grooviest bands around Quote
Stance Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 Just read the news..... Another one gone ... Really love those 70's EW&F records - still the best soundtrack for a Saturday morning RIP Quote
Mickeyboro Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 Suggest respectfully you rename thread so all tributes appear under one heading... Quote
Mickeyboro Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 And a tribute - Verdine White inspired the bass player in my first band (me on guitar), who turned me on to EWF and, eventually bass. Remember sending off a coupon from the music press for a 4-song EP when they were barely known in the UK. Best freebie ever! RIP Maurice. Quote
FlatEric Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 Oh No! Who's next? We had All 'n All on vinyl at work in 77/78 and literally wore the thing out. They are all of an age now - this is becoming a regular thing. Quote
ead Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 Truly a grim time for musicians that were the soundtrack to my youth (sorry for the overused cliché) and opened my eyes to music in all its variety. Quote

lowdown Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 (edited) Agree with both posts above. RIP Maurice White. Edited February 5, 2016 by lowdown Quote
bubinga5 Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 (edited) sh*t.!!!!!!!!!!! One of my favourite bands of all time. The soundtrack to most of my life. Very sad. He died of Parkinsons i believe. Who ever next. Of course Stevie Wonder and Prince are immortal… Edited February 5, 2016 by bubinga5 Quote

spongebob Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 RIP to an amazing visionary, singer, writer, and producer. As well as EWF, he also worked to massive success with a huge number of artists, and even played drums on one of my favourite albums, Minnie Ripperton's debut (Come To My Garden). EWF singles get lots of attention - justifiably so - but their albums are mostly brilliant as well, especially their original '71-'83 incarnation. Sad day. Quote
blue Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 This is so sad, another one of a kind brilliant visionary gone. Blue Quote
JTUK Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 The list is long this year.... sad to see so many go too soon. Quote
