I had this book under my bed for about 9 years, really need to sit down and give it a proper go.

Just don’t read it literally - it’s a giant metaphor for the path of discovering and attaining a spiritual relationship with music. It’s got a great technical breakdown of the elements of music and how they interact and their importance. I like his (one of his many) philosophy that you don’t play and instrument, you play music.
