fretmeister Posted February 6, 2016 Posted February 6, 2016 Interesting. I got to just short of 14,000 http://onlinetonegenerator.com/hearingtest.html Quote
EssentialTension Posted February 6, 2016 Posted February 6, 2016 12,000 and a bit ... at age 64 and after a lifetime of loud music and loud workplace. Quote
Dood Posted February 6, 2016 Posted February 6, 2016 The test, I suppose is pretty meaningless if you are using listening equipment that isn't calibrated. Laptop speakers, ear buds and even some professional 'cans' do not accurately reproduce sound as it is at source and thus could have the effect of boosting or cutting those high frequencies - in fact any across the range. [/quote] This. Unless carried out under controlled conditions this kind of test is, at best, a bit of fun. It is true that hearing extension goes with age and extended exposure to noisy environments, but how a 'test' like this can accurately assess that is a bit of a stretch TBH. Didn't somebody post this a year or two ago? Edited February 6, 2016 by leftybassman392 Quote
Japhet Posted February 6, 2016 Posted February 6, 2016 10,000 give or take at 57. Woohoo! I'm the deafest on here so far! Quote

taunton-hobbit Posted February 6, 2016 Posted February 6, 2016 I took a professional test after a car smash - the audiologist reckoned the on-line stuff was not to be trusted..... Quote

lurksalot Posted February 6, 2016 Posted February 6, 2016 I can hear the high pitch cat scarers that some people put across their gardens , I don't know what frequency or volume it is , but considering most of the people who put them there can't hear them I was pretty pleased with that !! Quote
cameltoe Posted February 6, 2016 Posted February 6, 2016 C'mon guys, we're the masters of the low end! We don't need to worry about these toppy frequencies, we bring the thunder! Quote

leschirons Posted February 6, 2016 Posted February 6, 2016 11062 (age 64) Sounds about right as it's pretty similar in range to when my wife is telling me to finish the utility room tiling. Quote

Subbeh Posted February 6, 2016 Posted February 6, 2016 (edited) Just over 16,000. Dont know how with so many years playing with loud drummers and guitarists. Edited February 6, 2016 by Subbeh Quote
machinehead Posted February 6, 2016 Posted February 6, 2016 Yikes! Below 8000. Age 58. The result of a lifetime working in shipbuilding. Frank. Quote
James Nada Posted February 6, 2016 Posted February 6, 2016 Just under 14k which looks below average for a 39 year old. What is interesting is that I could only hear the tone on my right ear for the last few k! Is that normal? Quote
fleabag Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 11,500 Funny, cos when someone offers our band £50 for a gig, i cant hear a thing. We recently got a £350 gig for later in the year and i heard that fine Quote
Kev Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 17,600, through laptop speakers, I'm 27. I'm really doubtful how accurate this test is, though. Quote

I just took the test - 17,181. I'm 34. Quote
Cosmo Valdemar Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 This reminds me of a time we were setting up before a gig. Of course there was the inevitable piercing shriek of feedback at some point, to which we all jump and instinctively cover our ears - all except our singer who watched us bewildered. He genuinely didn't hear a thing. The perils of not wearing earplugs at rehearsals, kids! Quote
cameltoe Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 Somewhere just shy of 15k, through my iPhone speaker! I'm 35. Quote
