seifregno Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 Fantastic Vimana as new, used only in recording session. It's a short scale bass ( 22.5 " ) tuned from E (low string ) F (thin string) . It has the same octave of a traditional bass. Very easy to play despite the short scale and with the 17 frets it has also a great extension . For more infos www.meridianguitars.com
dr.harry Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 Very pretty and interesting I like the lack of controls And it is almost exactly half a 35" scale bass So very portable Not exactly a metal slayer ;-) The website isn't vey helpful though, so usual stuff, please; Weight, string spacing at nut and bridge, etc Harry
Byo Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 Very interesting and super portable. Apart from Mr. Harry's questions, what strings does it use?
Roadybus Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 I've played 22,5" italian Luiterias few years ago. With an 130 E-String it gained full frequenzy
seifregno Posted February 8, 2016 Author Posted February 8, 2016 The string spacing at the bridge is 16mm, at nut is 9.5mm This bass don't need special strings, but standard scale bass strings.
andybassdoyle Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 I love this. I have no use for it whatsoever but I love it all the same. GLWTS
Byo Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 I am looking at this all the time trying to figure out a way I would use it in my current setups... Lovely piece of kit but maybe I am not such a good player! (too many strings on it!)
chrisbass13 Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 nice instrument! - how is the string tension (compared to a regular 34inch bass)? - does this bass have a trustrod?
Byo Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016
nice instrument! - how is the string tension (compared to a regular 34inch bass)? - does this bass have a trustrod?
As far I know it doesn't have a truss rod and all the adjustments are done from the bridge. With that scale, it doesn't really need one IMHO.
seifregno Posted February 9, 2016 Author Posted February 9, 2016 The tension is a little less of a standard bass, but the playing is very comfortable. The truss rod is not needed in this kind of instrument.
StephenCee Posted July 13, 2021 Posted July 13, 2021 Am I coming in late, right? If not, I'd be interested in your instrument 🙂
