leschirons
I remember buying his 'Nothing Rhymed' single back in 1970-ish and he was pretty big around that time. Last I heard he had an expensive legal run-in with his management company and he seemed to disappear for many years. Glad to hear he's still around.
From what I remember, the legal run-in was only expensive for his old management. I seem to recall he won about 6 million over royalties. Hence, moving to Jersey. Tullfan
Love Gilbert since 70's. A sing a long in the car too with the kids! Glad he's still able to write new material. For what it's worth, love Dean Friedman too!

Buzzy
Reading this thread made me buy a ticket for his show in Dartford last night. I bought his first album back in 71 but lost track of him during the punk wars of 77/78. The show was great, quality songs (even the ones I didnt know) and a top rate band. I'll be buying a few more of his albums to catch up on what I missed for the last 40 years.
Big_Stu
Radio 2 is currently plugging a gig he's doing with the BBC orchestra that they're broadcasting. Part of the plug is that he was the most successful UK artist of the early 70s with 7 top twenty singles . I'm finding that difficult to believe but I suppose it depends how they define that success. Certainly not in quantity, there were a lot of acts that beat that statistic but maybe sales volume if the releases sold stacks during a quiet spell - IF the early 70s ever had such a thing. Or maybe it's financial success and he had a good accountant.

Perhaps we should start a separate thread :-)
