Fair comment, if were not playing material that will inspire people to turn up and stay to the end then its our own fault.

Most people I know ask when I'm playing next... and will say how much they enjoyed it.

I don't read anything into it... if they want to come, they'll come.
If they are just being polite,..?? no problem with that either.

I tend to know if the band is working or not.

Yeh but most of my friends are musicians or bloody actors and comedians. I'm supposed to go to all their lamentable performances, but do they come to mine? Not often (rolls eyes).
